Mass of Christian burial for John W
Denges III, 35, who died Wednesday
at his home in Rapid City, will be at
10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Isaac Jogues
Catholic Church, with the Rev.
James Ryan officiating.
Burial will be in Black Hills Na-
tional Cemetery near Sturgis.
Rosary will be at Behrens Mor-
tuary at 7 p.m. Monday.
Visitation at the mortuary will be
Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., Sun-
day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m, and Mon-
day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and at the
church Tuesday for one hour before
the service.
He was born Feb. 10, 1953, at
Austin, Texas, to John and Marlene
(Pourier) Denges Jr. As a child he
moved with his family to Rapid City,
where he grew up and attended Cen-
tral High School.
In 1974, he served in the Army and
after his honorable discharge return-
ed to Rapid City.
He married Marilyn Barry April
14, 1982, at Hill City. They lived in
Rapid City since then.
Survivors include his wife,
Marilyn;
his parents, John and
Marlene Denges of Rapid City; two
brothers, Terry Denges of New York
and Peter Denges of Rapid City; four
sisters, Jean Carrillo of Dallas,
Texas, and Sharon Harpel, Cheryl
Walther and Nicole Denges, all of
Rapid City; two stepsons, Benjamin
Ponce of San Francisco and Ronnie
Straub of Rapid City; two step
daughters, Thelma
Ponce and
Raeanne Ponce of Rapid City; and
his maternal grandfather, Levi
"Pete" Pourier of Rapid City.
He was preceded in death by his
paternal grandparents and his
maternal grandmother.
