RAPID CITY - Michael Claude Sauer, 50, Rapid City, South Dakota, died quietly in his sleep at his home in Rapid City. The son of Claude and Eileen (Schippers) Sauer, he was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, October 21, 1954. Michael was a 1972 graduate of Central High School in Rapid City. At 17 he joined the U.S. Navy. He worked at Fuddruckers until recently. Michael was a member of St. Therese Parish. He was a loving Father, and a very giving and caring person with an infectious sense of humor. Survivors include his son, Christopher Robert Sauer, Littleton, CO; a daughter, Patricia Therese Sauer, Glendive, MT; his parents Claude and Eileen Sauer, Rapid City; a special friend, Melodie Fousek, Rapid City; 6 brothers, Paul Sauer and his wife, Lori, Union, KY, Peter Sauer, Newcastle, CO, Joel Sauer and his wife Barbara, Littleton, CO, John Sauer and his wife, Gwen, Colorado Springs, CO, Patrick Sauer, Boyceville, WI, and Tobias Sauer, St. Paul, MN; 3 sisters, Mary Beth Mandery and her husband Scott, Colorado Springs, CO, Anne Besmer and her husband Scott, Glendive, MT, and Arlys Reynolds and her husband, David, St. Cloud, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, 2005, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home with a Christian Wake Service and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Therese, the Little Flower in Rapid City. Mass of Christian Burial will be presented 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. William Zandri presiding. Interment will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City.
