MARTIN - Lynn Marlene Patton, 57, Martin, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the Bennett County Hospital.

She was born March 28, 1954, in Rapid City, to Robert and Marion Roe. She graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1972. She then attended Black Hills State College where she studied elementary education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1976.

Upon graduation she began her life's work and passion at the Martin Grade School. For 33 years she dedicated her life to the education of the children in Martin.

On June 10, 1989, she married Richard A. Patton, in Rapid City. The couple lived in Martin where Lynn pursued her career as an elementary and special education teacher.

She enjoyed arts and crafts of all types, including, painting, ceramics, cross-stitch, scrapbooking and making jewelry.

She especially enjoyed her many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She loved attending their activities and events and went to as many as she could.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Richard of Martin; two stepchildren, Stephen Kay Patton and Karen Williams, both of Rapid City; her mother, Marion Roe, Rapid City; two sisters, Susan Roduner and Pamela Juhala, both of Rapid City; five step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Bennett County Funeral Service.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23, at the Martin Legion Auditorium, with Ardeth Kocourek officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
