Mark Redick

RAPID CITY - Mark Leon Redick was born to Elwood and Rosemary Redick on July 26, 1954 in Pierre, SD. He died Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2008. Mark graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1972. As a young man, he served a tour in the U.S. Navy, traveling widely in the Pacific region. He earned his Associate's Degree and worked as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselor in clinics in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and as a Co-Director of Rehabilitation Services at Taekawitha Treatment Center in Sisseton, SD. After the death of his father in 2002, Mark took over an ironwood business and sold beautiful wood sculptures made in Mexico to many of the best gift shops in the Black Hills. Mark is survived by his two children, who were always first in his mind and dearest to his heart, Alyssa Rose Redick and Nicholas Redick Chase. He is also survived by his loving mother, Rosemary Redick, and his two younger sisters, Paula Saunders and Sara Holcombe and their families. Mark had a great and enduring love of the outdoors, especially the beautiful Black Hills where he spent most of his life. It seemed no matter where Mark traveled he found the Hills superior in beauty. He was a very spiritual, kind, caring, and loving person, and he will be dearly missed. The family is holding a Memorial Service for Mark at Crossroads Wesleyan Church, 1823 Sheridan Lake Road, on March 15 at 4:30pm followed by food and fellowship at the same location. Please send any memorial offerings for Mark to Burkwood Substance Abuse Services, 615 Old Mill Road, Hudson, WI 54016.
